( SYLMAR , CA ) September 26, 2005 — A top US defense contractor has awarded Quintessence Photonics Corporation a firm fixed priced contract for delivery and performance testing of BrightLase® semiconductor lasers with internal Bragg gratings associated with an undisclosed defense application.
“As the defense community requires more advanced semiconductor laser performance, we are pleased to meet this need with our industry leading spatial and spectral brightness,” stated Paul Rudy, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Quintessence. “Our program award is based on BrightLase® lasers and the exciting new internal Bragg grating technology. This technology was developed at QPC in the past 3 years as part of our product roadmap, and our formal product release is expected this fall.”
These BrightLase® devices feature high brightness operation and an internal grating which stabilizes and narrows the spectrum while enabling extremely accurate center wavelength accuracy in production. To ensure the ruggedness of the product over temperature extremes, the BrightLase® products are manufactured with state-of-the-art hard solder processes and mounts having coefficient of thermal expansion closely matched to the semiconductor laser die.
