Quintessence Photonics Corporation Announces Ed McIntyre as Director of Marketing:
Industry Specialist for High Brightness Semiconductor Lasers

(SYLMAR, CA) Wednesday September 20, 2006 — QPC Lasers, Inc. (OTCBB:QPCI - News), parent of Quintessence Photonics Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of high brightness, high power semiconductor lasers, announced that Ed McIntyre has joined QPC as Director of Marketing.
Mr. McIntyre’s is a leader in photonics marketing and sales and has worked in the industry for over 15 years. Most recently, he served as Director of Marketing at PD-LD, Inc. where he developed applications for high brightness lasers using external optical components. QPC has recently commercialized its proprietary on-chip high brightness laser technology to produce low cost, rugged lasers for defense, homeland security, medical, and industrial markets.
Mr. McIntyre has worked for several laser communications companies including Ortel Corporation, a pioneer in the development of analog fiber optic technology for CATV, where he served as Director of Sales. While at Ortel, Ed worked with QPC co-founder Dr. Jeffrey Ungar as the company grew from a Cal Tech start up in 1983 to the $3 billion sale to Lucent Technologies in 2000. Prior to his career in the laser industry, Mr. McIntyre served the United States in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army Security Agency.
