QPC Ships 2,000th Varicose Vein Treatment Laser

SYLMAR, CA, May 9, 2007 – QPC Lasers, Inc.  (OTCBB: QPCI) “QPC,” today announced that it has shipped to a leading medical equipment manufacturer its 2,000th high-brightness semiconductor laser used for varicose vein treatment. The Company continues to receive new orders and has made monthly shipments of this product since 2005.  This product is part of QPC’s First Generation line – separate and in addition to the $2 million medical module order backlog the Company announced in March as part of its Second Generation product line.

Dr. Paul Rudy, the Company’s Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales, said “We are pleased that our customer has reported to us that it has reduced its field failure rate to zero compared with a higher field failure rate prior to using QPC lasers.  Two thousand varicose vein lasers shipped with 100 percent end customer field acceptance is an exciting company milestone and reflects positively on the quality and reliability of our products.  We are proud to be reporting early and growing success in multiple medical product lines, and we intend to continue to capture increasing market share in this important sector.”

The QPC lasers are custom designed for the medical equipment manufacturer.  Varicose vein treatment requires a high-brightness laser that can be highly focused and delivered into the vein through a narrow optical fiber.  When the laser is powered on, the varicose vein is heat treated and eliminated.  The procedure offers significant advantages over the expensive and painful traditional stripping procedure which has been the most common treatment in the past.

Potential applications for QPC medical lasers range from dermatology such as wrinkle reduction, hair removal and acne treatment, to therapy for soft tissue and joint injuries, as well as ophthalmology, dental, and enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of lung and brain tissue.

The QPC varicose vein laser is a semiconductor, direct-diode laser that utilizes high- brightness chip technology.  For more information about QPC’s high brightness medical laser products from 780 – 2000 nm, please visit www.QPClasers.com.
